The menu is a treasure trove of Thai classics and crowd favorites. Start your meal with the light and refreshing Fresh Summer Rolls, bursting with crisp vegetables and aromatic herbs wrapped in delicate rice paper. For those who crave rich coconut-infused warmth, the Coconut Chicken Soup and Tom Kha Kai Soup deliver creamy, tangy flavors that are indulgently soothing. Spice lovers will delight in the fiery kick of the Spicy Thai Beef Salad and the signature Tom Yum Noodle Soup, both layered with lemongrass, chili paste, and fresh cilantro that awaken the senses.
The restaurant's curries are another highlight—tempting dishes like the velvety Yellow Curry and the deeply satisfying Panang Curry Lunch Special showcase a perfect balance of creamy coconut milk and fragrant Thai spices. Just a small note: curries do not automatically come with rice, so ask for an extra side to complete your meal. Fan favorites such as the Chicken Satay with its smoky, tender char and the exotically sweet and tangy Pineapple Fried Rice offer delicious diversions on the menu.
For those with a sweet tooth, Basil Thai Cuisine’s desserts are not to be missed. The Mango with Sticky Rice is a luscious end to your meal—ripe, juicy mango paired with creamy, coconut-infused sticky rice that’s both soothing and vibrant, a perfect harmony of textures and flavors.
Regular diners rave about the consistently fresh and flavorful dishes, especially the iconic Pad Thai, praised for its perfectly balanced tamarind sweetness and crunch from the peanuts. The Crying Tiger Sauce, typically paired with grilled beef, adds an intense, spicy-sour punch that keeps guests coming back for more. While most dishes receive high marks, individual tastes vary—some have found the fried chicken dumplings less appealing compared to the delectable cream cheese puffs, which are a definite crowd-pleaser.
Basil Thai Cuisine is also lauded for its efficient and reliable takeout service; many customers appreciate the prompt 15-minute turnaround time, making it a go-to spot for a quick yet satisfying meal. Whether you choose to dine in or carry your flavorful feast home, the quality and spirit of Thai cooking shine through each plate.
Keep in mind, some patrons have noted occasional discomfort with incense burning in the dining area, which may affect the ambiance for sensitive diners. However, the overall consensus highlights that Basil Thai Cuisine offers an authentic and generous taste of Thailand’s rich culinary heritage in the heart of Huntington Beach.
For those craving genuine Thai flavors served with a warm smile and large portions, Basil Thai Cuisine is a flavorful sanctuary that promises a memorable and delicious dining experience.
This place is great! The staff is so friendly and helpful. Love their pad Thai, so fresh and yummy. The panang curry is delicious, but I think the next time I go I’ll ask for a little less spicy. The curries also do not come with rice so you have to ask for an extra side of rice. Was a really big fan of the cream cheese puffs, but the fried chicken dumplings weren’t my favorite. Normally I’m a big fan of Thai iced tea but I felt like it was a little too concentrated.
My first time here, my friend and I were enjoying a wonderful lunch. An employee lit strong smelling incense in the dining area. Very unpleasant, I have to wash the clothes I was wearing and because of the unpleasant stench of smoke I won’t be back.
Their take-out service is great— food has always been done within 15 minutes! We don’t go here to sit and dine often, but when we do, there isn’t anything bad and there’s always a table available because I assume most order to-go! I usually order chicken pad Thai, my favorite dish, and it tastes great here! I recently tried their mango sticky rice and wow it tastes so good— it’s nice that it came with the white sauce stuff on the side in a little bowl.
This hidden gem is fabulous. The food portions are"ginormous" and packed with flavor. The servers are very friendly and attentive. Whether you dine in or take out, you will not be disappointed.
We get take out from Basil Thai about twice a month and are never disappointed. The Pad Thai and Crying Tiger are amazing dishes, as is the Drunken Noodles & Cream Cheese Wontons. I've ordered well over half their menu and have liked every dish. I haven't dined in, but the atmosphere is good and it's always crowded, so there you go. Whether you're dining in or ordering take out, this is a great South HB restaurant.
This place is so authentic and affordable! They have a great lunch special and the drunken noodles were so on point. You get a lot of food for what you pay for! The owner is one of the nicest and friendliest people and makes you feel very welcome.
First timer to Basil Thai and it was quite good. The location is a small place with a dozen tables and at 5pm on a Thursday, not busy. The anchor store for this shopping center was obviously T.J. Service was fast, english was spoken clearly at my table with I guess Thai (?) spoken behind the counter. I had Chicken Basil Thai Fried Noodle plate and Tom Yum Noodle Bowl. I could not finish it all which is a good thing for takeaway. Both have a light spicy foundation that was not overwhelming and sufficient for lighter Thai palates. As a local customer, I will return.
